WHY YOU NEED TO GROW A BEARD

Let’s face it! I mean, beard it! Yes, grow a freakin beard man. What are you waiting for? What are you hesitating about? If you hesitate you lose. Just like, if you snooze you loose! Ha!

Decisions determine your tomorrow. Your future is decided today. Today determines tomorrow. Don’t let someone put you in a box and decide your future. You plan your own tomorrow.

What’s keeping you from growing the beard of your dreams? It’s time to just do it. Yes, today is the day that you start your beard journey and you grow it, grow it, grow it!!!!!!!!

Here’s what you need to know.

1. Give it time. You need to have patience with your beard growth. I mean it took me 8 months to grow a beard. My beard grows super slow and it’s patchy at first. After the ninth month my patches filled in. I was happy. I’m sure you will be too! Give your beard the time it needs and you’ll be satisfied with the results of your glorious beard.

2. Use Beard oil. You need good beard oil. Good beard oil makes the difference. It really does. Just ask my wife. It softens my beard and makes it smell amazing. Not only that, but it makes it grow super fast! If you haven’t tried any Yukons Beard oil, now's your chance. Try it risk free today! Our Woodsman Beard Oil is the most popular choice. They’re all really great though. My wife loves the Old Hippie Nag Champa blend the best.

11 Trending Beard Styles

There’s quite a few beard styles out there. Which beard style fits you? Depending on your face shape and where your facial hair grows will ultimately determine which beard style you can rock. Also note that what looks good on others may look even better on you! :) And remember, a long full beard and a long mustache take time and patience; like most good things in life. Good things come to those who wait! So what are you waiting for? Check out these awesome trending beards.

here’s the best 11 trending beard styles

1. Balbo
Picture
The Balbo is one of the most popular beard styles today. This is none other than the Iron Man look. Robert Downey, Jr., popularized this style. Just watch Iron Man and The Avengers to see this beard in action. This style fits his face well and anyone with a narrow chin.

Fit Your Features:

Men with narrow chin

How to Master the Balbo Beard Style:

Grow a full beard and you’ll have plenty of hair for shaping. Give your beard around 5 weeks or until fully grown. Also don’t trim your mustache during this initial growth phase. You need to get a good razor (disposable or electric). Carefully sculpt by removing the hair on the sides. A straight razor is best for shaping this Balbo beard style.

2. Circle Beard
Picture
The circle beard is also known as the “standard” beard. It’s a combination of a rounded goatee and mustache. Tidy and presentable looking, which makes this beard style a great option for men who don’t want to just let their beard go.

Fit Your Features:
Round and Oval face shapes

How to Master the Circle Beard Style:
Grow a reasonable amount of hair. Don’t over trim or shave it. If you are not good at shaving circles then you might want to visit a bearded barber who knows what he is doing. A barbershop that specializes in trimming beards is the way to go if you want that perfect circle shape. Once you get the shape you can do your own maintenance.

3. Extended Goatee

Picture
The extended goatee is also known as the Hollywoodian or tailback. It’s a combo of a mustache and goatee. What makes this different from a full beard is that you’re shaving off your sideburns.

Fit Your Features:
Oval and Square face shapes

How to Master the Extended Goatee Beard Style:
You’ll want to grow a medium stubble beard before you start shaping. Shave off your sideburns and make the width according to your preference. Leave the stache.

4. Friendly Mutton Chops

Picture
Kinda looks like Wolverine. Yes, I’d say so. The Wolverine has stubble for his mustache though. The friendly mutton chops is also known as sideburns or side whiskers. The term “sideburns” was derived from an American Civil War general named Ambrose Burnside.

Fit Your Features:
Square or Circular face shapes

How to Master the Friendly Mutton Chops Beard Style:
Grow your sideburns and mustache out until the meet. Take a close shave on your chin up to the lower lip area. Then keep your sideburns growing until they reach the fluffy stage.

5. Full Beard
Picture
This is a highly preferred beard style. The manliest among beard styles. I suppose that’s opinion though. A well groomed full beard is quite awesome and emphasizes your face shape and features. It’s a very popular style.

Fit Your Features:
Diamond, Triangle or Inverted Triangle face shape

How to Master the Full Beard Style:
Genetics come into play with the beard style. If you’re a hairy faced man, then achieving this style will be pretty easy. The key is to just let your facial hair grow out. If you feel like shaping it, it’s your choice. I prefer to not shape my full beard and let my beard shape my face instead.

6. Garibaldi
Picture
Don’t want to keep your beard trimmed up? Then the Garibaldi is the perfect beard style for you! Trim it up if you’d like or keep it growing.

Fit Your Features:
Rectangular or Oval Face

How to Master the Garibaldi Beard Style:
You’ll want to grow your beard for at least 5 months. For me, it was 8 months. My beard grows slower than most. Shape and trim your lower beard area from time to time to make it look round. You can trim your mustache to keep the size down so the emphasis is on the beard. I like to emphasize the mustache too so I don’t trim it down any. This is a nice natural full size looking beard.

7. Imperial
Picture

Yes, the Imperial is a British styled mustache coined from the Second Empire. It’s a mustache style that looks pretty cool if you ask me. It reminds me of those old boxers. This Imperial stache would look cool with some sideburns or chin beards, but that’s up to you. The emphasis here is definitely that styled mustache. Any other facial hair should complement and accent, rather than take the focus off of the stache.

Fit Your Features:
Oblong or Rectangle Face

How to Master the Imperial Beard Style:
Don’t shave for months until you get the whiskers for this style. Let it grow, let it grow! You may need to wait as long as 4 months for you stache to grow big enough. The key here is as your mustache is growing you are twirling and shaping your stache. Applying mustache wax is important if you want that nice hook in your mustache.
You’ll need to shave your everything except your mustache. Don’t trim your mustache. You can’t, you just can’t trim it if you want this look. I know the struggle of eating a delicious burrito. You just have to deal with your mustache getting in the way. I will pull my stache out of the way before I take a bite. And I have to keep repeating the process. Believe me, there is great satisfaction if you don’t trim your stache! Don’t give in.

8. Short Stubble
Picture
Simple to obtain, the short stubble, is very popular. It’s clean looking and attractive. Many like it because it’s easy to maintain. There’s no right or wrong method to trim this beard style. You just trim it down with hair clippers. A manly look.

Fit Your Features:
All face shapes

How to Master the Short Stubble Beard Style:
No shaving for at least 3 days. For me it would take a week to get short stubble. If you didn’t already know, my beard grows super slow. After you get several days shadow, you can trim it back to keep the short length. Feel free to shape or trim your cheeks how you desire. As well, shave your neck if you’d like. Make the short stubble fit your facial features.

9. Medium Stubble
Picture
Medium stubble is perfect for those who don’t like short stubble :) Experiment, let your beard be yours! Grow your beard out a little more and if you like it better then keep the length. Just use some hair clippers and keep it trimmed at the length you like. In my opinion the medium stubble looks neater and more maintained than the short stubble.

Fit Your Features:
All face shapes

How to Master the Medium Stubble Beard Style:
You’ll want to keep your neck and cheek areas shaved. And let your beard grow out for a couple weeks and then keep it trimmed up with hair clippers at least once a week.

10. Long Stubble
Picture
Long stubble requires a little more maintenance. But so does being a man. Long stubble starts at around a quarter of an inch. With the long stubble style you’ll notice stray hairs.

Fit Your Features:
All face shapes

How to Master the Long Stubble Beard Style:
Stop shaving your beard for a week or two or three, until you hit a ¼ inch length. Keep it trimmed down to that length to produce a nice shadow beard. Remember, the more time that goes by the thicker your beard will become, just keep it trimmed back and you’ll have an awesome looking beard. Just keep the stray hairs on your cheeks and neck trimmed up.

11. Van Dyke
Picture
The Van Dyke beard style, named after the 17th century Flemish painter Anthony Van Dyke. This is a very precise and distinct style. So memorable, people started to mimic the style themselves. It’s a mixture of mustache and goatee with that has been trimmed with precision.

Fit Your Features:
Men with narrow chin

How to Master the Van Dyke Beard Style:
Change your name to Van Dyke and move to Belgium. Just kidding. But it would be cool to visit Belgium. You’ll want to wait until you reach the long stubble stage. Then carefully shape your beard using a razor. Make an inverted T shape on your chin and then let it grow out to about 2 inches. Remove all the hair on your cheeks and neck, including your sideburns. Leave your stache untouched or minimally trimmed up. Occasional maintenance on the T. Yep, I think it kinda looks like an inverted Tesla T.

What’s Your Beard Style?
Do you have one of these beard styles on your face? Which one? Snap a picture of the glorious thing and post it in the comments. I want to see it! Even if it’s not one of these 11 majestic beards.

Let Not Thy Beard Be Thy Downfall

Let Not Thy Beard Be Thy Downfall
Ladies and Gentlemen, beauties and beasts. I have some good news for you! In order for me to share the good news I must first tell you the bad. A beard can be a most magnificent thing but it can also be the downfall of a man.

What do I mean?

An unmaintained beard robs your face from shining like the sun on a clear summer day. An unmaintained beard forfeits future growth by a lack of preparation today. An unmaintained beard is rough and brittle like 20 grit sandpaper--it’s just unacceptable man. It really is. An unmaintained beard will cause you great despair and you’ll soon be tempted to shave it off. That dry flaky skin under your beard causes itchiness that will leave you scratching like a dog does his fur. Not cool. I don’t want you to resort to wearing a cone collar of shame. This would just be awful.
I care about your beard and want you to grow it with great pleasure. I want you to have great satisfaction with how your beard feels and looks.

Let Not Thy Beard Be Thy Downfall.

Here’s the good news! No, wait, it’s not good news, it’s GREAT news! You can keep your dignity and your beard. Without all the trouble that an unmaintained beard brings. Three tips right here that will prevent your beard from being your downfall.

  1. Buy some beard oil.
  2. Apply beard oil 2-3 times a day.
  3. Comb through your beard after applying beard oil.

Why these three tips? Because beard oil moisturizes your skin and beard so that you no longer suffer from dandruff of the beard or itchiness. Applying beard oil 2-3 times a day will soften any rough beard that feels like sandpaper. Yep, it does. Just ask my wife. And gently combing through your beard after applying beard oil helps keep your beard from becoming brittle. If your beard gets tangles and knots in it, your beard hairs will break off on you and leave you with a messy beard. Apply the oil, comb the beard, and grow your beard.

Here’s one more tip. If anyone tells you to shave your beard, you tell them to take a hike! The beard is here to stay.

Don’t let your beard be your downfall.

And remember better oil equals a better beard.

Sincerely,
Tony
